Like many writers, J. Dean Casey was an avid reader from an early age. Back then, he scoured his school library for science fiction books, mainly short story collections. His tastes would eventually expand to most areas of speculative fiction as well as mysteries and mainstream.

He made a few attempts to pen his own original stories and took creative writing classes to learn the fundamentals, but it wasn't until in recent years that he began to take writing fiction seriously.

His work has appeared in a number of publications including a featured story in Flash Me Magazine. He is currently the co-editor of the 2010 Better Fiction Anthology.

His newest book is scheduled to be published at Marion Margaret Press late 2011.
